MLM Mindset – Network Marketing as a Business

What is the MLM mindset? One hears many answers: giving, sharing, success, and so on. These are all good, but the question is: success in what? Giving from what resources? I propose that the most important mindset for MLM is that of a business owner.Think as a business owner.

Friend, you are running a business. You are bringing a product to the consumer, and you are expecting to make a profit from it. No profit means no business, at least for those of us who can’t afford to do this as a hobby. No profit means you don’t have the resources with which you can give and share.

So, what is the mindset of a business owner? He has a vision, a business plan, a way to finance it, and the willingness to do whatever it takes to make it work.

And what should our business plan accomplish? It must be able to keep us in business, that means to give a short term profit. And it should guide us to build a stable down line, for long-term residual income.

Market your products.

I believe the most effective way to do this is to market our products to customers who have a need and desire for the benefits that the products are providing. Unless you have a profitable business, you don’t have a business opportunity. So, does it make sense to recruit new distributors right away? You make get some, and make money on their sign up. But can you teach them to be successful? If not, they will not stay.

And as far as profits go, I can build a part time income from a 20% retail commission, but not from 1% or 2% override on distributor volume.
