My Story

My Quest for Success

Hello, my name is Kai Druhl. I was born in 1943, in the large harbor town of Hamburg, Germany. For most of my life, I have been a researcher and college professor. In 1980, my profession and a desire to explore more of life brought me to the United States. I owe very much to this great country and, in 2006, I became a citizen.

At about the time of my moving to the US, challenges began to increase in my personal and my professional life. I decided that I needed to take better charge of my life. Following the example of friends, I sought help in eastern mysticism and meditation. For 20 years, I dedicated myself to this path, giving it all I had.

At the end, I had to admit failure. I had spent large amounts of money on spiritual programs, and lost all of my retirement funds in a bad real estate investment. The spiritual promises had proven to be empty. I was facing the same inner issues that had confronted me 20 years earlier.

Meeting the Lord Jesus Christ

As I was seeking to recover, the Lord Jesus Christ began to enter into my life. Not having any clue about who He was, and carrying a lot of spiritual baggage, my first steps towards Him were not very straight. But eventually, that great Shepherd and Friend of people led me into a deep relationship with Him that is continuing and expanding to this day.

As I was walking with Him, He began to instill a love for people and a servant’s attitude into my heart. I had not been much of a people person before. But now I began to take a lively interest in the welfare of people around me, my friends and my students. Soon afterwards, the Lord directed me to go into MLM.

Facing the MLM Challenge

So, I embraced this new challenge and went to apply my new people skills towards marketing my business and products. I bought CDs, brochures, went to conventions, and began to talk to people.

I quickly found out that what my company taught me did not work, at least not for me and my emotional makeup. So, rather than continuing to alienate my friends, I decided to learn some marketing skills on the internet.

Well, that was a steep slope to climb. Not having a mentor, I spend quite a bit of money on various programs, mostly lead generation, and some prospecting. Still, it didn’t make much sense to me to try and recruit business builders, when I wasn’t making a dime. Plus, I soon found out that my commission on distributor sales was a meager 1.4%, while I could make 20% on retail sales. What was going on here?

Finding an Answer to the Challenge

One day, while researching the internet, I was invited to a conference call that answered my questions. I learned why the methods taught by MLM companies cannot work for the average distributor. Even better, I was introduced to a complete marketing process that was designed to market products, rather than the business opportunity.

What really got me excited was the opportunity to learn these methods by live instruction from two top marketers, Gino Niccoli and Terry Duff. After checking around some more, I joined their organization, and dedicated myself to acquire marketing skills and tools.

To my surprise, I soon began to enjoy connecting with people over the phone. After enrolling my first students, I began to work as a student mentor with other networkers, helping them to practice and build confidence in proper marketing.

A Final Word: Seek to Build Confidence

Let me share one more thing. You will have heard that success in MLM requires thing such as vision, training and consistent, massive action. And this is certainly true. However, I have found that massive focused action takes more than desire and positive thinking. In addition, you need to have confidence that you are doing the right thing, that your training is giving you what it takes. Confidence is key.

And this means that you need to see some level of success within a reasonable time. The promise of success five years down the road is not enough, when you continue to loose money and see others fail at a rate of 95%. So, whatever you are planning to do, make sure it is bringing you into profit quickly, and that it makes your customers stay with you.
